TATTOO AFTERCARE WITH OUT SANIDERM
Leave the bandage on for 1-2 hours. Remove and wash with an antibacterial soap and warm water. Make sure to remove all plasma and residue.
Apply a thin layer of A&D Ointment or Aquaphor to the tattoo for the next 3-4 days about 3-4 times a day. Do not let it dry out and do not overly apply the ointment.
After the 3-4 ointment days switch to a non scented lotion (Lubriderm, Aveeno, etc.) and apply for the rest of the two week time period.
Make sure to keep it clean! Wash the tattoo in between reapplying ointment if you can.
No soaking it! No hot tub, pool, jacuzzi, ocean, etc. for the next two weeks. Showers are okay though.
No sun on it for the next two weeks! After the tattoo is healed make sure to apply sunscreen to it for the rest of its life to prolong the detailing/color of the tattoo.
It may become itchy, scabby, or peel. DO NOT pick or scratch at it. Let the skin fall off naturally.
If there are any signs of an infection (redness, pussing, bumps, etc.) or you have questions please contact your artist immediately.
Your tattoo will be fully healed once it is not shiny anymore.
TATTOO AFTERCARE WITH SANIDERM
Saniderm is a sterile, breathable bandage. Your artist will apply it to your tattoo before you leave.
Leave the saniderm alone. It can stay on for 3-4 days. There is no need to apply ointment. You may have some blood/ink/plasma build up under the bandage. This is normal and will go away after you remove the saniderm
If the saniderm peels off a little on the edges, that is okay. If it peels off to the point where the tattoo is exposed or you notice any unusual redness or irritation remove it and switch to ointment for the remainder of the 3-4 days.
After the 3-4 days remove the saniderm. This is usually easiest while it is wet. Peal it off carefully and then clean your tattoo with soap and water.
After removing the saniderm start applying thin coats of lotion 3-4 times a day (as needed) for the remaining two week healing process.
No soaking it! No hot tub, pool, jacuzzi, ocean, etc. for the next two weeks. Showers are okay though.
No sun on it for the two weeks! After the tattoo is healed make sure to apply sunscreen to it for the rest of its life to prolong the detailing/color of the tattoo.
